Default Game Updates 13.0.21 | 21st December 2019 - Sunday 22nd December, 2019, 00:16

We've brought along another boss for you... don't be like this noob and get yourself killed:

Stupid noob.

Alchemical Hydra

- The Alchemical Hydra has been added to the game. You may access it via Boss teleports and it will make an instance for you. Hydra requires 95 Slayer.

  • Phase 1: Poison phase
    • Hydra will start attacking with Ranged. It cannot go through your protection prayers.
    • After it's 3rd and 9th attack, it will shoot Poison blobs at you. Standing on these will give constant damage. However, one can walk over them.
    • Every 3 attacks will switch its combat attack style. So, Ranged will transform to Magic and vice-versa.
    • Luring Hydra to the Red pool will remove its defence barrier. Luring to the wrong pool (even after being on the correct pool) will result in increased damage.
    • It will switch to the Electric phase at 75% HP.
  • Phase 2: Electric phase
    • Hydra will continue attacking with the last attack style from the previous phase. Its attack counter will not reset. So, if it attacked with Ranged last phase before switching, it will perform 3 more Ranged attacks.
    • After its 3rd and 9th attack, it will do an Electric attack. These Electricity jolts will spawn at different times but at the same spots. They will follow you for 6 seconds, or until they hit you.
    • Every 3 attacks will switch its combat attack style. So, Ranged will transform to Magic and vice-versa.
    • Luring Hydra to the Green pool will remove its defence barrier. Luring to the wrong pool (even after being on the correct pool) will result in increased damage.
    • It will switch to the Fire phase at 50% HP.
  • Phase 3: Fire phase
    • The same rules for transformation apply here.
    • After its 3rd and 9th attack, it will do a Fire wall attack. After making two rows of fire, Hydra will shoot a moving fire at you. A new fire will spawn approximately every 1 second. There will be 16 fires that follow you.
      • Getting hit from the fire will deal damage to you and continually scorch damages of 5 for 3 more hits.
    • Every 3 attacks will switch its combat attack style. So, Ranged will transform to Magic and vice-versa.
    • Luring Hydra to the Blue pool will remove its defence barrier. Luring to the wrong pool (even after being on the correct pool) will result in increased damage.
    • Failure to remove the defence barrier on this phase means that the entirety of phase 4 will have the damage reduction enabled, making the final blow hard!
    • It will switch to the Jad phase at 25% HP.
  • Phase 4: Jad phase
    • Hydra will continue attacking opposite of the last attack style from the previous phase. So, if it used Ranged last phase for its last attack, it will use Magic first for this new phase.
    • Every attack will switch its combat style. So, it will attack Ranged, then Magic, then Ranged, then Magic.
    • Hydra cannot be lured to any pool in this phase to remove its defence barrier. One must remove the defence barrier in phase 3 in order to have no defence barrier in phase 4.

- It may be assigned as a boss task from Sumona. However, being on a task is not required to fight it.
- Brimstone ring

  • Hydra's fang, Hydra's heart, and Hydra's eyes can be combined to make the Brimstone ring.
  • Has a 25% chance to ignore 10% of the target's total magic defense.

- Bonecrusher necklace

  • The Bonecrusher, Dragonbone necklace, and Hydra's tail can be combined to make the Bonecrusher necklace.
  • Combines the effects of the Bonecrusher and Dragonbone necklace.
  • This may be reversed by right clicking and clicking "Dismantle."

- Dragon hunter lance

  • A Zamorakian hasta and Hydra's claw can be combined to make the Dragon hunter lance.
    • You may acquire a Zamorakian hasta from the Slayer shop for 1,500 Slayer points. It ain't cheap to have the BIS weapon against Dragons (and in the future.. raids)!
  • Deals 60% more damage and gives 60% more accuracy against Dragons (including Hydras and Wyverns).

- Ferocious gloves

  • By using 100 Slayer points, one may learn how to make Ferocious gloves. One may use Hydra's leather on an Anvil to obtain Ferocious gloves.
  • This can be reversed. Using the Ferocious gloves on the Anvil will get you your Hydra's leather back.

- Ikkle hydra

  • Hydra may drop an Ikkle hydra. This little critter will follow you automatically once you kill Hydra if you don't have a pet.
    • If you do have a pet, then it will sneak into your inventory.
    • If you don't have an inventory space free, it will sneak into your bank (our kindness, OSRS doesn't do that ;)).

- Dragon knives now work, along with their special attack.
- Zamorakian hasta now works, along with its special attack.
